Every legend has an origin story, and Michael’s begins with the Jackson 5. When Motown Records discovered the talents of five young brothers from Gary, Indiana, the music world was about to change. The year was 1970...a time of wild clothing, a society in the midst of upheaval, and soulful music that would live forever. The Jackson 5 helped to dissolve racial barriers, crossing over from a “charismatic black group” to one of the most successful mainstream pop bands of all time. MJ: The Evolutiondepicts their rise to fame, fueled by concert and television appearances that are faithfully recreated. You’ll be front and center when the Jackson 5 performs ‘Dancing Machine”, “ABC”, “I’ll Be There”, and Michael’s breakout solo hit “Ben...just the way it happened.
As the 70’s came to a close, Michael Jackson’s solo career was about to take off. Epic Records released OFF THE WALL on August 10th, 1979, and it quickly became one of the best-selling albums of all time. Backed by the skills of producer Quincy Jones, OFF THE WALL helped to usher in the advent of “music videos”, a new entertainment medium that highlighted Jackson's limitless visual appeal. “Rock With You”, “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough”, “She’s Out of My Life” and the title track would all crack Billboard's Top 10 singles chart, positioning Jackson as the first artist ever to accomplish this with a single album.
The Jackson 5’s first single “I Want You Back” exploded on the radio and soared up the Billboard charts, becoming Motown’s first Number One Hit of the decade.
“ABC” is a 1970 number-one hit by The Jackson 5 the rest is history.
Ben is the second studio album by Michael Jackson, released by Motown Records on August 4, 1972.

Off the Wall
Jackson is credited with writing three of OFF THE WALL’s ten songs. Themes of liberation, loneliness, hedonism and romance permeate the album, and its groundbreaking fusion of funk, jazz, pop, and soft rock set the tone for a career that would appeal to multiple generations
The chorus contains one of the most misheard vocals ever. The line is: "Keep up with the force, don't stop. Don't stop 'til you get enough."
With Off the Wall, Jackson became the first solo artist to have four singles from the same album peak inside the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100
The chorus "let's dance/let's shout (shout)/shake your body down to the ground" was inspired by an ad-lib from Marvin Gaye's "Got to Give It Up": "Let's dance/let's shout.

Thriller
Music videos had now become a powerful artistic platform, and MJ once again broke down racial barriers at the MTV, which until this point rarely featured artists of color. Jackson’s music videos for “Billie Jean”, “Beat It”, and his pioneering video featurette for the single “Thriller” helped to cement the network’s programming as a legitimate artform.
The long-form video for “Beat It” depicted a scenario in which rival gangs are brought together by music and dance. It was inducted into the Music Video Producers Hall of Fame, and the single received Grammys for “Best Male Rock Performance” and “Record of the Year”. Four decades later, “Beat It” continues to be played around the world. Its legacy is indisputable, much like the man who brough it alive. MJ: The Evolutionrecreates the “Beat It” music video in all its glory right, right before your eyes.

Jackson and his dancers are wearing suits and fedoras, the lyrics about the strange woman with a mouth smoother than oil were taken from Proverbs 5:3-5 in the Bible.
